In response to a lawsuit filed recently by a California woman contending that Taco Bell’s beef taco filling doesn’t deliver enough beef to bear the name, the fast food chain launched a new advertising campaign today to “share the truth” about its seasoned beef.
The company took out full-page ads in a number of newspapers, explaining the “not-so-secret” recipe for its beef filling. “The only we reason we add anything to our beef is to give the meat flavor and quality,” the ad says. “Otherwsie we’d end up with nothing more than the bland flavor of ground beef, and that doesn’t make for great-tasting tacos.”
The company also released a YouTube video that features company president Greg Creed assuring customers about the quality of Taco Bell’s ingredients.
i found this reply from a link on a page containing an article about taco bells beef… a few things ive learned and know on the topic. a restuarant is allowed to claim 100% beef and not be 100%….but its either 80 or 90%…the rest is filler….same as you get from the market… except your filler is more healthy prolly…. filler is scraps from other areas of the cow….. yes its ‘beef’ …. but its not what youd want to eat in and of itself most likely…. least thats ive picked up in the restuarant industry…..
the second thing is about the OAT in the beef…. its an absorbent. when i worked for a family owned mezican style/burger/chicken joint, we made the taco meat from scratch…. we made it 10 gallons at a time in a large plastic bin…. spices werent that much… but we added about 2-3 quarts of oatmeal… this was to help soak up some of the grease …. it also helped hold it together… sort of like crackers and an egg do for a meatloaf….
i only am here cause i have a complaint to taco bell and was trolling about…..
thank you
